JDRF Metro Saint Louis / Greater MO Chapter

I am really psyched about this and wanted you all to share the excitement. I pitched an idea to Marie for the stagnation problem of this website. She agreed and we’ve begun rebuilding the whole thing. We are using a content management system called WordPress as the engine. WordPress is used primarily for blogs, but here we’re using it as a website…with a lot of advantages.

• Journal style means all the old entries simply roll off the page as new items come up. But they aren’t lost. This provides us with both the ability to see past entries and create a historical record of our events and announcements going forward.
• The category feature allows users to click on a particular subject and see those posts, for example, if we have a category called Family Events, they can click that and see only Family Events.
• With RSS, users will have the ability to reference the site through popular feedreaders like Google Reader. In the near future, I’ll even add the ability to subscribe to the site with email. A new post would then automatically be emailed to the user when they occur.
